Quick snare drum question

Hi.

I was thinking of getting a new snare drum, and just discovered (on the Internet) a used 14"x4" Pearl 'Marvin "Smitty" Smith' at a really low price. However, since I don't know anything about that one apart from the review I read on Pearl's website, I thought I'd ask you guys.

Any comments on this drum?

i have never used one myself, but it's copper and short............so it will b bright in sound, but no depth to the tone.

If you like metal snares, you should try this one. I don't own one myself but I have played the drum. It was surprisingly warm sounding. And don't let the size fool you, it can sound fat when tuned low, too.

I'm not saying you should buy one without trying but it sounded good to me and it's not too expensive either. I like the sound of metal snares and use a Black Beauty most of the time.

I'm going to guess he uses it on the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. Maybe you can hear it on their to get a sample.

I've never played one myself but all I've heard is rave reviews about them. If you have a chance to pick one up cheap you might as well go for it. You can never have too many snare drums. [img]wink.gif[/img]

I got the snare drum a few days ago, and I'm positively surprised. What a wonderful sound! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Definitely worth the money.
